| When
you have a very small puppy (1 oz to 2 oz) use the canned
Esbilac. You will have a better survival rate using a tube or
bottle. Vet will tell you how much and for how long. My vet said
my puppy would not live. You can do it. Buy a small electronic scale, it weighs in oz and
grams. I bought one at Wal Mart for around $30.00, was well
worth the money as you need to monitor the weight very close.
(Mine is called Good Cook Quality by design)
Start feeding
small amounts of baby rice mixed with powdered Esbilac. Feed by
spoon, at two weeks until they can eat on their own. Then mix in
ground up Purina Puppy Chow (blender does a good job). I also
feed my bitches this only more of it while nursing puppies. I
start mine on dry small puppy breed Eukanuba mixed with Purina
Puppy Chow.
For the first
shot, Don't
give the Leptospira as
they sometimes have a reaction to it. (Could result in death)
They get DHPPC Corona , no Lepto. Not for Chihuahuas...they
don't need it. As a precaution I give a small amount of
antihistamine. Vet will show how much, also good to keep on hand
for bee stings. (Which is Benadryl allergy for children) 1 to 2
mil for bee stings then take to vet if swelling hasn't gone
down. |
