An Email From A Website Visitor

Loved your website!  As a new chi owner, I've been looking for info about the breed.  I've raised Labrador retrievers, so this is a really big change for me!

I wanted to give you some info I recently learned so you can add it to your website.  Here's what happened:  My new 3-month old puppy had diarrhea and I knew Kaopectate was ok to give him, but it was Sunday night and I didn't have any Kaopectate!  I searched my medicine cabinet and found Immodium, which is another remedy for diarrhea.  Being a smart woman, I decided to check the Internet to see if Immodium was OK for dogs.  Luckily, the third website I checked had info about Immodium (Loperamide HCI).  It said Loperamide can be toxic to dogs!  Thank goodness I checked!  Actually, the site said Kaopectate doesn't do much either - feeding a mixture of rice and cottage cheese is really the best.   I wrote to the vet to thank him for including that info.  He may have saved "Charlie's" life!  I thought you might want to put Immodium (Loperamide HCI) on your list of dangerous medicines.

New Toll-free Poison Control Number
The ASPCA has a new poison control hotline phone number
for pets.
If you have reason to suspect that your pet may have been exposed to something toxic, either internally or externally, this phone number will connect you with an ASPCA veterinarian specially trained to assist pet owners or other vets.
This is the only dedicated animal poison control hotline in the world manned by veterinarians, not telephone operators. The number is staffed 24/7.
